PU organizes several activities to mark Pakistan Day
LAHORE: (Thursday, March 29, 2018): A number of departments of Punjab University have organized several activities to celebrate Pakistan Day. PU Centre for South Asian Studies Director Prof Dr Umbreen Javed has organized debate, national song singing, quiz competitions and faculty discussions. The activities highlighted two-nation theory, Pakistan movement and achievement of objectives that were basis of the demand of Pakistan. PU Pakistan Study Centre organized lecture on “Lahore Resolution: Revisited”. PU Dean Faculty of Arts Prof Dr Iqbal Chawla and Forman Christian College’s Professor of History and Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Prof Dr Sikandar Hayat were the keynote speakers. PSC Acting Director Dr Rukhsana Iftikhar, faculty members and a large number of students participated in the event. The speakers introduced the background of Pakistan resolution and highlighted Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s efforts towards attainment of separate homeland for Muslims. PU Girls Hostel No5, under the leadership of its warden and Director Institute of Applied Psychology Prof Dr Farah Malik. The students participated in national song and speech competitions and recalled the sacrifices of the people for obtaining an independent country.
